After previously working with Oldham Athletic Community Trust (OACT) as a community coach, after I completed my degree I was offered the role as Media and Communications Executive, the first role of its kind at the organisation. • In this role, I have created and developed a communications strategy for the 2020/21 school year and football season, planning what we wanted our comms to look like in partnership with Oldham Athletic. I have filmed and edited areas of our work in the community such as school delivery, Premier League Primary Stars, Premier League Kicks and much more. I have also launched new social media campaigns to spread positivity in the local community to show what the organisation is all about such as #FridayFeedback. • I also developed a microsite for OACT through the Football Clubs official site so we have our own platform to share all of our work through our own website instead of passing all our information through the club to share, ensuring we can share stories as and when we feel is best for our audience. • With the role never being done before at the business, I found it really key to make my own mark and show off what I am all about as well as the great work OACT do in the community and schools of Oldham. In my first 3 months in the role, our social media pages grew significantly, reaching over people monthly on Facebook and gaining 350 + Twitter followers on our account. • I also launched my own project for World Mental Health Day called #StayConnected. This project was to help those who feel isolated during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially whilst local lockdown restrictions are in place, by up skilling them on technology and social media websites to help them keep in contact with their loved ones at a time they can’t be close to them in person.
