We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.\"- Charles Swindoll In school, I was fascinated by ethics. Along the way, I learned about the dark side; the Holocaust, child labour, what drives poverty in third world countries and what poverty, in turn, drives us to do. Coming into the merchandise industry, I realized what a powerful position we were in. Every day, we help clients select products that will be ordered in the thousands. That one product could be sourced from a forced-labour factory in Xinjiang, where Uyghur Muslims are held captive and abused. Or, it could be coming from a company who employs those most at risk, and pays them enough money to survive on their own. So often we minimize the impact our purchases have. Blinded by distance and complex supply chains, it doesn\'t even come into our consideration. At Accent, we\'ve made it our mission to lift the veil and use our power for good. I\'ve spent four years here and the journey is just beginning. If I\'m ever not at work, you\'ll find me in a different continent soaking up the sights and being fascinated by the local history.
