ABOUT BROOKE HALL-CARNEY
Brooke Hall-Carney is an experienced lawyer and technologist, who has worked on all of the commonly known \"mega litigations\" of Bell, One.Tel and C7 Pay TV sports rights. Brooke also acts for space industry clients and clients in relation to AI and cyber incidents, including advising a US institutional bank in relation to an inadvertent data spill. Brooke builds AI governance and data governance frameworks, advises boards and executives on their AI strategy and governance and cyber risk and strategy, and conducts cyber scenario training. Also, she facilitates data governance and supply chain workshops for clients. Brooke speaks about technology in a way that lawyers understand and the law in a way that technologists understand and regularly trains and facilitates AI risk and opportunity workshops for organisations. She regularly presents locally and internationally, including to members of the judiciary, on emerging technologies, including data, privacy, AI, cyber, crypto and blockchain.Brooke was the recipient of a Commonwealth Fellowship to teach and study Master of Laws, University of British Columbia in commercial law and native title and completed at Harvard, Cybersecurity: Managing Risk In the Information Age and AI at MIT Sloan in the USA. She was shortlisted in the Euromoney Asia Women in Business Law Awards in Privacy & Data Protection 2018; Doyle\'s Guide 2017, 2022, 2023 and 2025; and shortlisted Lawyers Weekly Tech Partner of the Year 2022 and 2025; Cyber Partner of Year 2023, 2024 and 2025 and shortlisted Cyber Security Awards, Cyber Lawyer of the Year 2024 and shortlisted in the 2025 Australian AI Awards 2025. Brooke is a member of the AICD and a director on Boards.Brooke lead\'s LK\'s tech team and litigation resources. Her expertise is recognised in the industry with legal software developers seeking her input on their designs and Courts soliciting her views in relation to practice notes and rules regarding disclosure and electronic trials.Prior to joining LK, Brooke worked for many years in the Sydney office of King Wood & Mallesons. She was the associate to the Honourable Justice von Doussa QC in the Federal Court, subsequently a research assistant for members of the Full Court of the Federal Court in the Ben Ward Native Title Appeal in Perth and a research assistant for the late Justice O’Loughlin in relation to the stolen generation case.
