Advise on strategic procurement approaches, mitigate risk and manage legislative requirements at all levels of the organisation (including Chief Executive and Elected members) across all commodity areas but particularly Construction, Professional Services, ICT and Facilities Management (FM) Services. • Allocate resources, advise and support on the delivery of over 200 procurement projects and a budget of over£1billion per year. Support staff in the planning, delivery and handover of these projects as well as updating stakeholders as required. Part of team responsible for over £140 million in annual savings.• First line management of a team of 10 procurement professionals at all levels. Developing, mentoring, training and providing support appropriate to differing levels of experience, qualifications and personal needs. Recruitment and succession planning also part of the role.• Board Member of numerous key Council project boards including Sustainability Board, Bioquarter Procurement and Granton Waterfront. Providing strategic procurement advice and approving approaches to projects within these large programmes of work.• Involved in Procurement & Commercial Improvement Programme (PCIP) audits, meeting Internal & External Audit requirements, Government Opportunities (GO) Award submissions, administering Capital recharges, Freedom of Information (FOI), Elected Members communications (including reports for Committees) and/or press inquiries as required.• Sustainability champion, inputting into sustainability processes, templates and internal training. Represent the Council and collaborate with numerous external partner organisations at both local and National level including Scotland Excel and Scottish Government.
