Responsible for the implementation of the disaster cycle services program in Southeast Alaska as part of the Alaska Chapter of the American Red Cross Pacific Division. Leads and manages a primarily volunteer team of nearly 100 people. This position operates as a part of the Disaster Management Cycle processes. It is responsible for local preparation, response and recovery management as well as management of government partnerships with assigned territory. With over 30 communities primarily accessible by boat or plane, numerous volunteer fire departments, other community agencies and partnerships, the amount and complexity of program activity, presence of significant grant funding, geography, risk, population, frequency of events, and regional structure. Responsible for the implementation of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs in the local area. Ensures the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers in each of the program support functional areas of the disaster cycle in order to meet the needs of the territory, region, state and division-Supervise and support 60 volunteers in Southeast, AK-Coordinate preparedness, response, and recovery efforts with strategic community partners-Facilitate volunteer workforce leadership-Participate on the Regional (Statewide) Disaster Program Leadership team-Collaborate with the other services offered by the Red Cross of Alaska such as Service to Armed Forces (SAF), our fundraising team and communications.
