When we\'re young, we never feel trapped or limited by someone else\'s story. We imagine wide open futures, and trust our ability to expand upon existing possibilities. Also, we appreciate the intrinsic hilarity of butts. I believe that creativity (and that comedic intuition) never leaves us—it just gets buried by too many other stories. Our imagination becomes limited by other people\'s.Ever since I joined my high school newspaper, I felt the power of sharing stories and encouraging people to peer into other worlds. I\'ve now worked behind the curtain at many acclaimed creative environments, and seen how teams come together to build an entire universe of innovative ideas (or jokes). I used to dream big, craving the viral hit, but lately I\'ve come to appreciate the power of what\'s made to feel small. I recognize creativity is an embodied act, and experiences are more powerful than another piece of \"content.\" People don\'t really connect over exchanged memes; we\'re bound together through emotions and deeper meaning. As of now—as slippery as that time we call \"now\" can be—I believe deeply that honesty, vulnerability, humor, and play are all avenues back into my younger, more imaginative self. The more real and accountable I can be, the more it sets me free.(Even when truth is uncomfortable.) The more I prioritize mental health, clear boundaries, and long walks, the more it opens me up to inspiration.(Even when capitalism creates a story of urgency.) And the more I have fun and crack jokes, the more in touch I feel with my heart.(Even when work is made to seem serious.) All of that brings teams closer together, and helps me feel like a human being on a planet interconnected with others. Those connections are the lifeblood of my new, adult imagination. It\'s an imagination we get to share through grief and joy and truth and struggle and an even greater, expanded awareness of just how many hilarious butts exist in our world.(And every other world we can imagine together.)
