ABOUT BRIAN HARRELL

I retired from the Bowling Green Police Department after 29 years. My assignment was Deputy Chief of Operations. My primary duties were the leadership of the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division (CID), and Communications Division. During my career, I have served as a Patrolman, Gang Unit Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, CID Sergeant, Patrol Captain, CID Major, Patrol Major, Logistics Major, and Deputy Chief. I have been awarded the Lifesaving Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, and Medal of Merit. I am a retired member of the U.S. Army Reserves. I was mobilized for Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and deployed to Iraq in 2008 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the course of my military enlistment, I performed as a Field Medic, Medivac Medic, Drill Sergeant, and CID Special Agent. I received a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University. I am a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course (Class 136), Criminal Justice Executive Development Course (Class 16), and the Academy of Police Supervision (Class 32).
