ABOUT BRIAN CROTTY
Executive Vice President and General Manager of OPIS, a leading global data, analytics and information company serving energy and chemical markets. I joined Dow Jones in February as part of Dow Jones’ acquisition of OPIS from IHS Markit. Prior to joining Dow Jones, I was an EVP for IHS Markit, leading their $900 million Energy and Natural Resources Group. I have extensive experience in commodity markets and running news, database, SaaS platform and analytics businesses. From 2002 to 2015, I was CEO of OPIS, leading several acquisitions and ultimately the sale of OPIS to IHS Markit. Before joining OPIS in 2002, I spent eight years as a vice president at Hart Publications, an energy information company specializing in magazines and advertising supported events. I am a journalist by trade and spent my early years with OPIS covering downstream energy markets. I have a master’s degree in Journalism from American University and an undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. I am a New York City native and now reside in Washington, D.C.
