Currently serving as Vice Chair. Previously, Board Secretary and Finance Committe Chair. The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority is charged with the perpetual management and safeguarding of Trust assets including one million acres of land (bigger than Rhode Island) and a high-quality portfolio of properties in Alaska, Washington, Utah and Texas as well as cash and investments. The Trust is the only organization of its kind in the United States. It has an independent Board of Trustees appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Alaska Legislature. More than $25 million in grants are distributed each year across Alaska for community-based mental health projects and services. Revenue-generating uses of Trust land include leasing and sales; real estate investment and development; commercial timber; mineral exploration and production; coal, oil and gas exploration and development; gold and rare earth elements; sand, gravel and rock sales and other general land uses.
