ABOUT BRAD VAN PATTEN
A retired education executive with over 17 years of experience as the Director of Arts Education at Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) and 23 years in the classroom. IUSD is one of the highest performing and most diverse school districts in California. With an EdD in Educational Leadership and a MA in Music Teacher Education, I have a strong background and passion for arts and music education, curriculum development, innovative teaching and learning models, and technology.As the Director of Arts Education, I developed, implemented, and monitored arts education for students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12, across five arts disciplines: music, visual arts, theater, dance, and media arts. I managed, developed, and provided leadership for over 55 certificated and classified personnel, and administered a $4.6 million budget. I also served as an administrative curriculum coach for several district-level administrators, and as a presenter, lecturer, and guest conductor at state and national conferences, colleges, and universities. I was honored with multiple awards, including the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators Administrator of the Year Award in 2022.
