Gillman for coverage of Beto O\'Rourke-Ted Cruz debate December 2017: Champions for Children Award, Texas Lawyers for Children, for reporting on “the dangers facing abused children and foster children in Texas.” August 2017: Nancy Monson Spirit of FOI Award, Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas, for stories about breakdowns in Child Protective Services investigations in Dallas and Houston and ongoing crises in Texas’ foster care system. December 2016: Star reporter of the year, TexProtects (Texas Association for the Protection of Children), for stories about breakdowns in CPS investigations in Dallas and Houston and ongoing crises in Texas’ foster care system.
