ABOUT JORDAN PARKER
As a business reporter at the Dallas Morning News, I lead the coverage of the North Texas aviation industry, which includes Dallas Love Field and Dallas-Fort Wort International Airport, as well as Southwest and American Airlines. Prior to my arrival in Texas, I had a three-year stint as a breaking news reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle, where I wrote about several general news topics, such as labor issues, transportation, the emergence of driverless cars, crime and wildfires. I also wrote quick-turn enterprise stories that provided context and analysis on the issues that affected the Bay Area. Before I joined the Chronicle, I attended Sacramento State University where I earned my Bachelors degree in journalism. At Sacramento State I became the first Black editor in chief of The State Hornet, the award-winning student-run campus newspaper. I led a staff of over 60 editors, reporters, broadcasters, and photographers, and served as the public face of the newsroom. Under my leadership, the paper enacted its first-ever diversity initiative, which focused on covering underrepresented communities on campus and won its first Online Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press.
