ABOUT BOAZ LEVI

I am an Associate Investigator in the Human Cell Types group at the Allen Institute for Brain Science. At the Allen Institute, I am focused on building somatic genetic tools to interrogate the wide variety of cells that compose the mammalian brain. Towards this goal, we are building enhancer-AAV tools to mark and manipulate primary neural cell types across species. We revealed open chromatin regions from human cortex that are selectively accessible in specific populations of neurons and glia. My team is now applying our enhancer-AAV tools to build novel gene therapies for untreatable neurological diseases.
