ABOUT BISMAH AHMED
Bismah Ahmed currently holds the position of Vice President at the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA). With over a decade of experience in politics within the region, Bismah has established herself as a registered lobbyist, advocating before the Virginia General Assembly, executive agencies, and local governments in the Metropolitan Washington area. Her extensive background includes pivotal roles such as working at the Policy Office of former Virginia Governor, Terence McAuliffe, where she conducted in-depth research on Virginia policy and crafted strategies to engage a wide range of communities. She has also served as a legislative aide to Virginia Delegate Richard L. Anderson, and as a research assistant to current Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring, where she played an integral role in campaign operations for his Political Action Committee, One Commonwealth.Bismah holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Villanova University and is a distinguished graduate of the Class of 2020 Leadership Arlington program. Her exceptional leadership has earned her recognition as a Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 Honoree by the Leadership Center of Excellence, a coveted title that celebrates emerging leaders who have made significant contributions to the region. She has also been honored with the 2018 Arlington Chamber of Commerce\'s Chairman Award for her outstanding achievements.Beyond her professional accomplishments, Bismah has made history as the first South Asian, Muslim, and Pakistani woman to be crowned Miss DC for America 2022. Her story has captured the attention of major media outlets, including ABC7, WUSA9, NBC12, FOX5, FOX45, DCW50, and TV Asia. Bismah has used her platform to launch The Color Collective, an impactful initiative that raises awareness about pressing global issues, such as the refugee crisis faced by Afghans and Ukrainians, and promotes giving back to the community.She is very involved in the Metropolitan Washington community and am an active member of: The Virginia Housing Commission Affordable Housing and Neighborhood Transitions Workgroup, Arlington Chamber of Commerce (Executive Committee), Arlington County Tenant-Landlord Commission (Commissioner), Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce PAC Trustees, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee, the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee.
