ABOUT BILL ALEXANDER

Howdy folks, I\'m Bill (he/him), a trained and experienced writer, collaborator and communicator with an immense interest in organizations and ideas that serve the greater good and have a positive and authentic impact on individuals and communities.Over the course of my career, I\'ve become a bit of a one-stop-shop MarCom professional with a layered background in several aspects of marketing and communications, including creative strategy, brand strategy, creative development, content creation, digital strategy, execution, public relations, and project management. I\'m passionate and detail-oriented, with a well-stocked toolbox of both technical and creative skills, and 10+ years of experience working with large-scale not-for-profits. I graduated from Carleton University\'s journalism program with a combined honours in Journalism and Film Studies, and my love of film and storytelling lead me to work in roles supporting marketing, communications and public relations for some of Canada\'s largest film festivals, including Hot Docs, TIFF, OIAF and Inside Out. In 2012, I relocated to the UK and began working with London South East Colleges (formerly Bromley College) in London, England. I returned to Canada in the fall of 2013 and continued working in education, specifically with not-for-profits that support youth voice and engagement. These include the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Canada and Outward Bound Canada, the latter for which I supported as Marketing Director and served for several years as part of the senior leadership team. I am currently working as a freelancer, supporting clients with a range of needs, including marketing strategy, content, development, communications, and public relations. I would love to connect with those who need support as part of their growing teams, whether part-time, contract or freelance. I am also open to more long-term or full-time opportunities should they be a good fit.I am a second generation settler to Turtle Island, born and raised on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. I work out of the traditional territory named Tkaronto, or Toronto, which is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, and is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
