ABOUT BEV HOLMES

I’m passionate about the funding, production and use of research evidence for societal and planetary benefit - and how all that happens as part of research systems. Past President of Michael Smith Health Research BC, I now work with an amazing network of public and philanthropic research-related organizations as Senior Advisor, Impact Funders Forum. I volunteer for research advisory groups across Canada and internationally, serve on several boards, and help advance knowledge as associate editor at Implementation Science Communications and Health Research Policy and Systems. With a PhD in health communication from Simon Fraser University, I\'m an adjunct professor at that institution\'s Faculty of Health Sciences as well as UBC’s School of Population and Public Health, I’m also a Fellow, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and a Chartered Director (Degroote School of Business, McMaster University). My partner and I have four children and four grandchildren (so far). We love swimming, cryptic crosswords and spending time outdoors with our family on the ancestral and unceded lands where we are grateful to live: the territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl􀹂ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations; the territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the territory of the Mi’kmaq people, and the territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people.
