I currently work as Paralegal in the Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss department in the Clyde & Co Southampton Office. I assist on complex and high value pre and post litigated claims for insurer clients. My roles includes:• Drafting legal documents such as defences, letters of claim and witness statements.• Drafting instructions to counsel and experts.• Conducting witness interviews.• Attending conferences with clients, counsel and experts. • Reviewing documents such as medical records, pleadings and liability evidence.• Drafting client updates and advices.• Considering issues of liability and causation.• Carrying out quantum reviews to consider case value. • Drafting applications to the court.• Liaising with several parties including claimant solicitors, medical experts, counsel, clients, insured\'s. • Time recording effectively and meeting billable targets. I have also had the privilege of running my own low value litigated motor damage claims. This has involved the following.• Reviewing pleadings.• Drafting defences, consent orders and witness statements. • Liaising with insurer and insured clients.• Negotiation with claimant solicitors. • Settling claims on the best possible terms and successfully defending multiple claims at trial. • Making applications to the court. • Gathering liability evidence.• Managing multiple court deadlines at one time.Alongside the requirements of my role, I have had the opportunity to complete pro-bono work with Amicus to assist individuals at risk of the death penalty in the United States. I am also a member of the Sports and Social Committee. In November 2024 I accepted a training contract with the firm commencing 2026. I will begin the SQE at the University of Law in September 2025.
