My most recent engagement was with GPC Asia Pacific Pty Ltd as the Program Manager for its Finance Transformation Project, which was successfully concluded in December 2024.The Finance Transformation (FT) project involved replacing legacy systems (e.g. CA MasterPiece) or parts thereof (ACE retail ERP, Lotus Notes Projects), with Microsoft Dynamics D365 Finance and Operations (F&O) modules. KPMG was the primary implementation partner and critical to the project\'s success. Of note was the integration complexity, not only with ACE, but with systems represented by 23 partner organisations, covering vendor management and fraud protection (EFTSure), invoice ingestion and processing (ExFlow and Sutherland), expense management (SAP Concur), banks (ANZ, NAB, HSBC, BNZ and Bank of America), property lease management (CoStar), vendor rebates (Enable RDM), personnel (WorkDay), payroll (ADP), customer credit applications (Equifax and Capricorn), tax reporting (Thomson-Reuters OneSource), payment times reporting (Profectus), customer statements (Alchemy, Datam and IVE), corporate consolidated reporting (BlackLine), and foreign exchange feeds (RBA, RBNZ). The breadth of partner engagement posed significant challenges from engagement, geographies and time zones (Australia, NZ, Singapore, India, UAE and USA), through integration and end to end testing, and the coordination of cutover activities.In addition to the above, the FT Project engaged the services of Microsoft Fast Track for implementation guidance and support, and MS Support for technical support. The FT Project was also subject to audits by GPC\'s cyber security team, KPMG in its capacity as internal auditor, and Ernst and Young for external audit.The project succeeded primarily due to:(1) Excellent people, both within GPC and from its partners.(2) The commitment and support from the project sponsors drawn from GPC\'s and KPMG\'s executive ranks.(3) Timely decisions often times based on imperfect information.
