As Executive Director of Promigrant Foundation Americasinmuros.org a non profit organization based in Mexico City we concentrate in three main activities: firstly, support and advise of Mexican communities abroad, especially in the USA and Canada. We look at the needs of 5 million undocumented Mexicans in the US and several thousands of Mexicans in Canada that are also very vulnerable due to their legal status. Secondly, deported Mexican families with their children from the US to Mexico. There are many issues they need to solve when they are back in Mexico: to find work, many times housing, education and health services. We work with local governments and hometown associations. Thirdly, migrants of other countries in transit in Mexico trying to reach the USA. They are in high risk in many regions of Mexico, either organized crime or different authorities abuse and take advantage of their vulnerability. We work with a wide group of organizations pro human rights and migrant rights and try to alert risky situations and advise how to protect themselves.
