ABOUT BENJAMIN CALDARELLI
I work on two sides of education: leading a boutique college admissions consulting practice and advising edtech founders on K12 district go-to-market. At Benjamin College Consulting, we work with small cohorts of students and their families through the admissions journey. Approached thoughtfully, it can be one of the most formative periods in a young person\'s life. It\'s a chance to build the self-awareness and character strengths that lead to success well beyond college. We also partner with schools to provide professional development for new and experienced college counselors. At Broadview Partners, I advise early-stage edtech founders on positioning, district go-to-market, and partnership-led distribution, with a focus on the college and career readiness ecosystem. The work is built on a conviction that the next generation of edtech should use data and AI to strengthen the counseling profession at scale while preserving the expertise and judgment of the counselor doing the work. The strongest district adoption happens when founders treat counselors and district leaders as collaborators, not channels. Across both practices, my work is grounded in the Citizen Scholar framework and its three educational pillars — Intellectual Vitality, Emotional Acumen, and Civic Engagement. I believe these define the students poised to thrive in college and contribute meaningfully to the world. My forthcoming book, The Citizen Scholar, explores how students develop and demonstrate these pillars, and how schools, counselors, and edtech can help cultivate them.
