ABOUT BEN SMITH

I’m Ben, a Senior Business Analyst who enjoys working through complex, messy problems and helping organisations focus on what actually needs fixing before time, money or energy is wasted on the wrong things.My work is strongly discovery-led. I care about understanding people, context and constraints before jumping to solutions and I’m particularly drawn to environments that value thoughtful decision-making over unexamined momentum. I tend to ask “why” a lot, not to be difficult, but because good decisions usually depend on asking better questions early. I’ve spent close to a decade working as a Business Analyst, alongside earlier experience in adjacent roles. Over the years I’ve worked across problem discovery, solution shaping and how change lands in organisations, moving comfortably between detail and strategy. I’ve also had exposure to project management and user research which has shaped how I think about problems from multiple perspectives and how those perspectives come together to support better decisions. Outside of work, I’m usually spending time with my wife and daughter, playing board games or indulging my more geeky interests.
