ABOUT BECKY PIPER

Hands-on, adaptable information junkie who loves to explore ways to communicate efficiently.Academic study has provided a solid foundation to my career which has so far rewarded me with over 25 years of experience in design and creative communication roles, including: agency, postgraduate management research support and secondary Design & Technology teaching. I’ve volunteered as a Beaver Scout Leader, Scout Leader and admin support at 1st Stony Stratford and have a 17 year old son studying film production (and looking for experience!), to whom I’m a proud single mum.Unable to resist a challenge, I invariably find myself seeking out new ones as I enjoy finding effective solutions to problems, both as part of a team and as an individual. In 2017, due to a lack of childcare options for working parents in my town, I worked with a local business and a charity to register, launch and manage an out of school childcare facility for primary age students. I’m proud that Stony BizKids was a much-needed and popular choice for parents and children, filling an expanding gap until the local primary school took up the baton in 2020.Having studied, trained and qualified as a Design & Technology teacher on the job in several Secondary schools around the county, I was privileged to work with the inaugural team of staff to open and set up a brand new school in Milton Keynes - teaching Design Technology (Textiles and RM) and Food Preparation and Nutrition. Currently delighted to be working with amazing colleagues to shine a light on Shimadzu UK - a company providing a broad range of analytical instruments which are indispensable for research, development, and quality control across the fields of Food and Agriculture, Environment, Clinical and Pharmaceutical.Interested in any form of communication between individuals and groups and particularly enjoy exploring any channels which facilitate visual communication. One of my current fascinations is the role of influence within social networking sites and the impact it has on both marketing and education.On a personal note, as well as enjoying a bit of art every now and then, I also enjoy wild swimming once or twice a week, being lucky enough to have the River Great Ouse just down the road :)Specialities: typography, graphic communication, corporate communications, branding and identity, marketing, social media, webinars and a love for making stuff.
