Currently on a 6-month placement as a Business Intelligence Engineering intern in Amazon’s Inbound Supply Chain team, where I am combining data science/engineering and stakeholder collaboration to produce analytical insights and data-driven solutions to opportunities of improvement in the logistics of the business-More specifically, my role in the business involves-Understanding the business needs and the role of data in the context-Creating and improving data pipelines to efficiently automate the flow of data through ETL and data warehousing-Analysing, transforming and visualising data to test and fit hypotheses, identifying key statistical and qualitative insights for stakeholders to the business problem-Creating and evaluating the use and accuracy of different metrics to monitor the performance of different business activities-Creating and designing projects involving new implementations to improve the performance of the different metrics, e.g, changes to current UIs or changes to database logic-Some of my notable achievements so far include-Improving the precision of the detection mechanism of a particular defect from 91% to 98%-Building and enhancing existing interactive dashboards that manage millions of rows of data and integrating ML-based statistical analyses-Resolving data discrepancies across multiple large-scale pipelines-Achieving 2nd place globally in the intern ML challenge-(Fun fact) Participating in the successful Guinness World Record attempt for \"Most viewers of a Mental Health Awareness lesson, live stream on a bespoke platform\"-The delivery of these results were made possible through determination to thoroughly dive deep into the data surrounding business problems from both a technical and business perspective.
