ABOUT BALVIS RUBESS

I am an illustrator, designer, and motion artist based in Toronto. My most recent projects included design, illustration, and animation for 3 seasons of the show Evil for CBS and Paramount+. I designed the covers of \"The Pop-up Book of Terrifying Things\",\"The Pop-up Book of Contemporary Demons\", and \"The Pop-up Book of Contemporary Angels\" that were used for props built by Ross MacDonald of Brightworks Press. I created 3D animations of the virtual pops, that were used as guidelines for final animation and compositing by Powerhouse VFX, NYC, and illustrated each titlepage and art for the pop-up elements. In season 3 of Evil, I also got to create animated woodcut illustrations to compliment the title of each episode. My llustration work has been published in Communication Arts, American Illustration, Society of Illustrators NYC, 3X3 Pro Show, Applied Arts, and Graphis annuals as well as “This Face you Got”, a compilation of portraiture. Silver medals from the Toronto Art Directors Club and 3-Dimensional Illustration Awards. Winner of the 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023 AI/AP International Motion Art Awards, and two Platinum Pixie Awards for motion graphics.
