ABOUT AZARIAH SMITH

Azariah is a Sociology major and is pursuing a Data Science minor at the University of California, Berkeley. She is curious about how economies, technology, and social structures evolve—particularly in the age of AI—and loves digging into complex questions to uncover insights that actually matter.She believes conducting research and analyzing/coding datasets are powerful because it uncovers the trends, and patterns that lead to real impact. That belief led her to pursue a minor in Data Science alongside Sociology, blending human-centered thinking with analytical tools to tell deeper, more meaningful stories with data.On campus, she is a recipient of the Research Scholarship at the Haas School of Business, where she conducts mixed-methods research under the mentorship of David J. Harding. Her project focuses on educational inequality among first-generation and low-income students across different regions of California. Berkeley has transformed the trajectory of her life, and she’s committed to creating access and opportunity for students from under resourced backgrounds.In addition, she is a Software Engineer for Codebase where she worked on front-end and back-end development for a nonprofit. She now builds with Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and is excited to keep exploring where research, technology, and social impact collide.
