WORK HISTORY
Founder CEO @Ever Resource
Cambridge, GB
At Ever Resource, we don’t just recycle; we elevate the practice to upcycling, transforming end-of-life batteries into superior products for the energy transition. Our patented technologies enhance product quality while reducing carbon, waste, and energy footprints. This unique approach positions us at the forefront of sustainable development and green chemistry. We work with all major battery metals including lead, lithium, and zinc. Our upcycled products, created exclusively from waste materials, surpass the quality of those derived from primary resources. For instance, our upcycled leady oxides provide up to 40% improvement in energy density, setting a new benchmark. The process, REGENERATE, also reduced the carbon footprint by 85% and cuts waste by more than 90%. We envisage a future where resources are not just recycled, but renewed and enhanced. Proudly established during the UK’s COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, with IP jointly developed with the University of Cambridge, we are championing technology that not only drives sustainable industry practices but also inspires a global movement towards true circularity!

ABOUT ATHAN FOX
I’m a PhD graduate in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge. My work is in development, scaling up, and commercialisation of technology for sustainability, recycling, and the circular economy. My guiding philosophy is:\"When only two paths are apparent, create a new one.\"My expertise includes chemistry, materials science, intellectual property and technology transfer. I have started several companies, including a technology-led business which is revolutionising battery recycling. My projects and businesses include recycling of batteries (lead-acid, lithium-ion and more); catalysts for electrolysers and fuel cells; end-of-life solutions for plastics and municipal solid waste; and synthetic biology. My teams have been recognised via numerous awards, including “Cambridge Independent Cleantech Company of the Year” in 2022, and Rushlight Resource Recycling and Resource Innovation Awards in 2019. In 2024, we were crowned \"Cleantech Start-Up of the Year\" and \"Global Start-Up of the Year\" at the UK Start-Up Awards for the East of England.I believe that our future hinges on more than just ground-breaking research; we must translate science into meaningful and economically sensible products and services. This means turning great ideas into things people need, but always underpinned by ambitious yet realistic business models.
