More than 50% of the world\'s population now lives in urban areas. It\'s a demographic trend that will only increase, and one that has provided opportunities to millions worldwide. Cities are an expression of who we are as collective societies, showcasing our ingenuity, values, and culture in the most visible ways.Urbanization brings with it environmental consequences such as a general trend toward poorer water quality of nearby streams and lakes. I want to bring urban drainage engineering solutions to the highest possible standard of excellence, and it is my professional mission to do so with common societal co-benefits in mind. I want to change the way we design our roads, making them green, beautiful, and live-able while cleaning the water that eventually goes into the lakes and streams we love so much. I believe we can have a lower impact on our watersheds through highly-urban biological treatment, mimicking the water quality and flows before humans left their mark. I am a civil and environmental engineer by training, but I understand how multi-disciplinary urban design problems of the 21st century are, and truly believe we can only tackle environmental solutions as a team of action stakeholders. I want to be a part of the movement to design better stormwater and water quality solutions in a fast-changing urbanized world.
