ABOUT ANDREA APPOLLONI

Andrea Appolloni is Assoc. Professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy, where he obtained a PhD in Management. At the same University, he teaches courses in Operations Management, Procurement & Sustainable Supply Chain Management. He also teaches in various postgraduate and executive programs. At the University of Rome Tor Vergata, he coordinates national and international research projects in various Countries. Among the most important, he is the coordinator of SAPIENS, a European Research Project “Marie-Curie Sapiens Horizon 2020” on Sustainable Public Procurement with 7 European Universities, other external partners, and a funding of approximately 4 million Euros. Since 2010, he has been coordinator of the Management Consulting Observatory at Confindustria Assoconsult, the Association that represents Management Consulting companies in Italy & since 2015 in the European Observatory at the European Federation of Management Consultancies Associations (FEACO). He coordinates an ESA_LAB@ centre of the European Space Agency and also the China Desk, an international research study centre on China. He is currently a permanent visiting professor at Cranfield University, UK, an Academic Member at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) and at SEU Georgian National University (Georgia), and in the past, he has been visiting at the University of Tennessee (USA), ETH Zurich (Switzerland), University of Tianjin, and Shanghai Jiao Tong in China. In 2021, in ANVUR, he was a member of the GEV expert for the Evaluation of Research Quality (VQR 20••••19), and also a member of the commission on Diversity and Disability in Universities. Since 2015, he has been an ordinary member of the Association of Italian Academics in China. He was part of the “Task Force for China” initiative promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development. He has held positions of responsibility in companies such as Accenture (in Turkey, Italy & USA), Unicredit, Milan, Hertz Rent a Car, Dublin, CTS Viaggi, Paris & Consip Spa, Rome. Other relevant collaborations have been established in Italy with several national and international firms. Among other responsibilities, he is an expert in the field of sustainable purchases for UNEP, an international organisation based in Paris, part of the United Nations & affiliated with the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa. He holds the role of expert in the Global SCP (Sustainable Consumption and Production) Clearinghouse. In 2011, he was the winner of the Sciences & Arts Fellowship China (SAF-CHINA).
