ABOUT ANU PALA
I am an accessibility professional with over two decades of experience working with community driven organizations, the business community, and the education sector. I hold a BA in professional communications from Royal Roads University and a diploma in disability management and certificate in career development from Simon Fraser University. My work has been featured in a variety of published work such as a national integrated toolkit for EAL instructors, a course on the topic of inclusive hiring, a monthly live national television show, in numerous written articles, and the production of five podcasts. I have spoken at numerous public events of all sizes on topics related to disability inclusion, inclusive hiring, overcoming adversity, and others. Through my work, I have been instrumental in shifting perceptions about disability in the workplace, education facilities, and beyond. My work is informed by my lived experience of sight loss. I was a recipient of the Founders Award in recognition of having exemplified the qualities of leadership, sustainability and personal development from Royal Roads University and was a delegate of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in 2020 and 2021. I seek opportunities to shift disability bias and create social change by sharing my personal journey and expertise.
