I joined Kier Construction as part of the Senior Management Team to help steer the business in the Western & Wales Region. As Senior Business Development Manager covering the Gloucester and Oxford offices, my primary focus is the generation of new business opportunities to meet the business plan needs. I work as part of the pre-construction team with responsibility for overseeing key clients, managing and developing new client and consultant relationships, business planning and new business development. I also assist in securing and managing public sector frameworks, tender prequalification, pre-tender interviews and contractor briefings, supplier and subcontractor engagement and advise on selection of consultant teams when appropriate. Other duties include the creation and recording of data on capture plans, managing the Kier Information System, CRM management, attending CSR engagement events, graduate mentoring, event and hospitality management, brand management, creating marketing collateral, overseeing site photography and carrying out senior management site safety leadership tours. I am also on the Constructing Excellence Gloucestershire Committee

ABOUT ANTHONY WHEATLEY
From an early age I was interested in buildings and design, I initially wanted to become an Architect, however after much deliberation I decided that my natural ability to think logically would be better employed on the Surveying side of the industry, where it also seemed an interesting alternative to the purely office based professions that had been presented at careers events arranged by the local school.My entire career (some forty five years) has been spent in the Construction Industry, during this time I have undertaken a number of roles on different sides of the business providing me with a fairly unique perspective on the industry as a whole.It all began in January 1980 when I joined Gleeds, one of the UK’s leading Quantity Surveying Practices, where I trained to become a professional quantity surveyor. I was with them just over five years working on a wide variety of projects across the South West.Following my time with Gleeds, I worked for a number of companies gaining valuable experience, before settling on a pre-construction role covering business development, framework and key account management, firstly with Pearce Construction, followed by Ballast Nedam Construction, Britannia Construction, Dawnus Construction and now with Kier Construction in the Western & Wales Region.As a qualified building professional, I have been able to bring a wealth of practical experience to the roles I have undertaken over the past few years and bridge the credibility gap that often appears between business development and operational functions.I am confident, well organised and enthusiastic in my approach to the task in hand. I enjoy a challenge, don’t buckle under pressure and capable of thinking independently with the strength to follow through with my own decisions in order to achieve results. I am equally happy working as part of a team, being flexible, adaptable and persuasive in group-situations.
