ABOUT ANTHONY MICHAEL TAMEZ
Anthony Tamez is a passionate advocate for his community in Chicago, drawing on his Cree and Lakota background to inspire his work. He is dedicated to preserving the community\'s connection to the land through land-based education and helping community members plant medicine gardens in their backyards. As a Youth Ambassador for President Obama\'s Generation Indigenous (Gen-I) initiative and a member of the Center for Native American Youth\'s Youth Advisory Board, Anthony is committed to dispelling myths about Native people in Chicago and across the country. In recognition of his work, Anthony was named a Champion for Change by CNAY in 2018. He is also the only sitting Native American elected official in the state of Illinois and one of the youngest Native Americans elected nationally. Currently, he works as a programs contractor on CNAY\'s Community Champion for Change program, National Champions for Change, and serves on the Youth Advisory Board.
