I lead a team of five responsible for the delivery of the safety maintenance programme for Openreach (‘OR’) with a primary focus on replacing defective telegraph poles and manhole covers, ensuring delivery to time, quality, and cost to achieve optimum margin and customer satisfaction. I am the primary contact for the customer, keeping them informed on performance and providing excellent customer service. I am responsible for safety management, overseeing the safe digging processes and compliance for ‘hot jobs’. I have trained and developed a new team, enhancing their skills and confidence in their roles, especially when dealing with internal and external stakeholders. I need to use good coaching and verbal communication skills when instructing my team. They work closely with operational teams to prioritise key works, making sure there is capacity to deliver the programme. I keep the customer informed on performance, addressing any operational issues impacting performance collaboratively. I provide insight and intelligence to the Senior Management Team with a weekly presentation on programme performance and drive change to maintain or improve performance based on this analysis.Key Achievements:• Selected to attend the Managing for Success 15-month external training course which developed my self-confidence, critical thinking, and new management approaches. This has led to improved relationships with key stakeholders and increased output from my team.• Consistently praised by internal and customer stakeholders for successfully developing my team, in particular for the way they embraced change following a period of uncertainty.• Received personal commendation from the customer for the substantial improvement in performance over the past 12 months.
