ABOUT ANDY POOLE

I build trusted digital tools that help teams act earlier, prevent harm, and make care more personal.As Head of Data Science & AI for Dorset ICS, I lead the development of prevention-first technologies already in use across the NHS, public health, and social care. My work includes A&E forecasting, frailty and mortality prediction, and neighbourhood-level prevention platforms. All are designed to support earlier, fairer, and more confident decisions.I build full-stack, end-to-end solutions, from machine learning models and MLOps pipelines to clinician-facing apps and simulation tools. My team works directly with frontline staff to make sure everything we build fits real clinical, operational, and community needs.As a member of the CIO Advisory Panel (Digital Health) and a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University, I contribute to national conversations on ethical AI, digital strategy, and system redesign. I’m also part of the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, supporting innovation that puts people first.With more than 10 years in digital health, data science, and actuarial modelling, I work across technical, financial, and strategic domains. My background as a chartered accountant (ACMA, CGMA) shapes how I think about sustainability, system design, and delivery at scale.I’m exploring ways to grow this work through collaboration, pilot projects, and shared learning around prevention based technologies.Whether building, mentoring, or collaborating, I’m committed to transparent, explainable AI that strengthens trust, supports prevention, and helps teams shift from reacting to risk to preventing it.
