ABOUT ANDREW MATTINSON

I started my professional career in construction by undertaking a 3 year joinery apprenticeship with my father combining academic study and traditional site work. Once I became a fully qualified Joiner, I was hired at Portakabin as an operative working on the modular buildings which are produced there. After 3 months on the tools at Portakabin I was appointed as a Project Planner in the main company headquarters in York. For the first 5 years I worked on contrasting sized modular projects ranging from small single block units to multi storey multi-million pound contracts. I was then promoted to the role of Senior Project Planner where I continued my previous duties but also spent much time co-ordinating work for the team whilst line managing 4 people. During my time as a Senior Project Planner I successfully graduated the HNC in Construction & the Built Environment at York college graded distinction. My career changed from a project delivery role into a commercial project role when I was successfully appointed to the role of Bid Manager at Portakabin in 2022. I attended Leeds Beckett University studying an honours degree in Construction Management, again this was a part time course whilst I remained in employment at Portakabin, graduating with first class honours.
