ABOUT ANDREA TEL
As a Principal Legal Counsel at Amazon, I focus on competition, antitrust law, and regulatory litigation for Italy and Spain. My work primarily involves ensuring compliance with competition rules in a dynamic regulatory environment. Before joining Amazon, I was a Senior Counsel at BAT, where I supported D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) eCommerce and retail operations globally. In addition to this, I provided regulatory counsel and litigation support across the Americas, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southern Europe (including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, and Israel). My role also covered tax, international trade, and anti-illicit trade matters. Additionally, I acted as a point of contact for business conduct and compliance issues, such as anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and intelligence compliance for Government Affairs and Communications.Earlier, I worked as an associate at Van Bael & Bellis in Brussels, where I specialized in international trade and competition law. I represented private companies and governments in investigations led by the European Commission and other authorities, focusing on cartels, merger control, and abuse of dominance cases. I also advised companies on EU and Italian law regarding internal market issues, customs law, and regulatory compliance.I obtained my LL.M. in Competition Law at King’s College London and my Master’s in Law at Bocconi University Milan. I am a member of the Madrid Bar, having worked as an associate in the litigation department of Cuatrecasas (Madrid). In my free time, I enjoy following politics and staying active with amateur CrossFit. I also have a deep interest in tech and geek culture.
