ABOUT AMY RINALDO

Amy Rinaldo has been practicing law since 1998. As a registered patent attorney she has assisted universities, corporations, small businesses, and individuals not only in protecting their Intellectual Property rights, but also in planning and executing a worldwide protection strategy. This has enabled her clients to effectively leverage their Intellectual Property portfolios (including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets) in acquiring additional funding or acquisition. With a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, her specialty has been in the biotechology and life sciences fields, including dietary supplements, foods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and animal models. Amy also has extensive experience in the regulatory field. She has developed an expertise in FDA laws, as well as advertising laws. This combination allows Amy to assist clients in not only acquiring exclusive rights to their inventions, but also how must to leverage those assets in a regulated fields to avoid governemental interference. Intellectual Property Law: Extensive experience preparing, filing, and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent and trademark applications and related licenses and agreements.• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in the fields of automotive and other mechanical devices, bio-technology (e.g. genetic engineering, immunoassay, animal models, therapeutics, diagnostics, and related devices), business methods, and chemistry.• Provide opinion work: infringement, validity, and freedom to operate.• Manage Intellectual Property portfolios for university and corporate clients.• Conducted license negotiations including assignments, exclusive and non-exclusive licenses, MTAs, Joint Development Agreement, and Trademark licenses.• Provide consulting services to corporate management regarding IP portfolio strategies and IP litigation to attain business goals.• Advise clients regarding the procurement, use, and management of Intellectual Property in order to achieve business goals.Regulatory Law: Extensive experience advising clients in the dietary supplement, drug, and medical device fields regarding regulatory and advertising laws.• Review labeling changes for dietary supplements, drugs, and medical devices.• Review of materials for compliance with FDA, FTC, and data privacy regulations and guidances.•Negotiate advertising agreements.•Advise US and foreign clients regarding potential data privacy, cybersecurity concerns and other legal changes for regulated products.
