ABOUT AMY JOBE
As a science communications professional, I\'ve supported 20+ companies that develop new medicines, diagnostics, and medical instruments to make sure that the right patients, doctors, and investors understood how those products can help people. I\'ve developed clear language for technical and lay audiences alike that explains prognostic tests for skin cancer, microscopic insulin-carrying discs for diabetes, mRNA vaccines for COVID, combination therapies for hepatitis, and more.As an academic researcher, I\'ve completed a Ph.D. and a postdoc in structural & molecular biology under the mentorship of Joachim Frank, Ph.D, a 2017 Nobel laureate in chemistry. I made and interpreted new, detailed 3D images of ribosomes, the microscopic machines that do the essential job of making proteins inside the cells of every living thing. I explored how infectious agents like viruses and parasites might make proteins differently than the rest of us do.I\'ve also taught biology and biochemistry course material to college students and graduate students.
