ABOUT AMANDA Y. KONG
I am a geosocial health equity and cancer prevention and control researcher and a former public health practitioner. I use geospatial and mixed methods to interrogate how both positive and negative attributes of neighborhoods can affect health and health equity. My research has a particular focus on industry actors and how they use neighborhoods to promote the retail availability and marketing of harmful commodities, such as commercial tobacco products. I use community engaged and participatory dissemination and implementation science approaches to design, promote, and evaluate pro-equity interventions and public health policies to advance just neighborhoods, population health, and cancer prevention and control.
