ABOUT ALYA ADAMANY WOODS

As the Business Development Lead for Cooley in Chicago, I leverage my extensive experience and expertise in public-private partnerships, innovative economic development initiatives, inclusive growth, and entrepreneurship to help connect high growth potential companies to the resources they need to succeed. I have been with Cooley LLP for over three years, joining the firm only a few months after its launch here in Chicago.Prior to joining Cooley LLP, I served as the COO and Acting CEO of Intersect Illinois, the organization designated by the Office of the Governor to lead statewide business attraction and economic development strategy in partnership with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. During my tenure, I oversaw site selection, lead generation, marketing initiatives, community engagement, and external relationship management, as well as the organizational transition from a private nonprofit to a public-private partnership. I also secured the doubling of grant funds from FY20 to FY21, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.I hold a MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a BA in Political Science from Yale University. I am proficient in French and have a strong background in public policy, grant writing, and research. I am passionate about creating positive social and economic impact through collaboration, innovation, and inclusion.
