ABOUT ALLIE MARTINEAU

Friends and colleagues have gone cross-eyed over my color-coded weekly to-do lists, but I gravitate toward roles where I wear many hats. At any moment I am working as a freelance illustrator, social media manager, writer and copy editor, children’s book worker and Kid Lit community organizer, and a professional in marketing, communications, and development.My 10+ years of experience in marketing and comms roles, and lifelong passion for development and fundraising, led to my position as Communications and Marketing Manager at The Hitchcock Center for the Environment. I am responsible for driving program enrollment, strengthening the Center’s relationships with our public and community partners, and sharing our mission to educate and inspire action for a healthy planet.My dream of becoming an author and illustrator of books for young readers has guided everything I do. I graduated from MCLA in 2017 with a major in Creative and Professional Writing and a minor in Gender Studies, then earned my MFA in Writing for Children from Simmons University in 2019. Teachers and professors throughout my life would attest I draw on every piece of paper put in front of me.I am the illustrator of \"Ice Cream and Me\" the autobiography from ice cream legend Steve Herrell, and author of HELLO DESIRE, a poetry chapbook.
