ABOUT ALLEN YOUNG

Allen is the CA State Director of Government Affairs for Cox Communications. In his role, he represents Cox at the state level in California as well as locally in San Diego County. Allen is responsible for legislative advocacy and fostering positive relationships and partnerships with state and local governments and stakeholders. In addition to his work advocating for Cox in Sacramento, Allen is also responsible for overseeing and managing all relationships with local elected officials and staff in the City of San Diego, County of San Diego, and the cities in East, North, and South County San Diego.Prior to joining Cox, Allen worked for several elected officials and has extensive experience in local and state government. He previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Policy for a San Diego City Council Member managing a diverse policy portfolio. He also served as Committee Consultant for the city’s Budget Committee.Allen currently serves as a board member for several San Diego nonprofits, including the San Diego Foundation and Asian Business Association of San Diego where he serves as Secretary of the Board. He is also a board member of the California Broadband & Video Association (CalBroadband). In addition, Allen sits on the Public Policy Committees of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown San Diego Partnership. Previously, Allen also served on the board of San Diego Pride, East County Economic Development Council, and the East County Chamber of Commerce. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Allen graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with an emphasis on American Politics and a minor in Economics.
