ABOUT ALISTER REUBEN HILL
Much more than an Operations Manager’, my managers say. I was born and grew up in Northern Ireland and went to University in Belfast, twice. I lived in Scotland, The Rep. of Ireland and have travelled extensively with work and some for fun. I thrive on working and talking with people around the world, succeeding in steering global teams on the same positive path of improvement and delivering results, often under extreme pressure. It’s rewarding to hear my teams talk of me as a great support and motivation. I love working with young people and contributing to the community by volunteering in various youth groups. With a B.A. in Modern History, starting my career in Logistics was a mismatch; but the memory skills I’d honed were very useful and I quickly found my rhythm and satisfaction in delivering uninterrupted supply to production facilities and growing a reputation for integrity, work ethic, reliability, problem solving and persistence. After quick successive promotions in my early working life, I’ve had opportunities to further my career by moving to The Netherlands and the US; but my young family and my home self-build project, rooted me in Northern Ireland. Improvement and Modernising Systems Projects have inspired me to remain in Operations Management. I enjoy working with people who are pleasant to work with, partnership orientation is my preference. I have achieved success working with differing people types. In my experience, people are motivated to do much more for those who are pleasant and appreciative. Since school days, in sport and in professional training groups, I’ve been a natural leader and throughout my career I’ve enjoyed learning how to be more effective at leading diverse groups of people. There is nothing quite like some of those real-life shock moments with people management to really help one to learn. Management, Leadership, Logistics Expertise and Customer Service are my hard skills. I most enjoy leading people and seeing them develop in their careers. Personal and professional life has taught me that sustaining balance and variety is very important to maintain the optimum productivity of oneself and others. Countries I’ve travelled: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, England, Czech Republic, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, USA, Wales
