ABOUT ALISON TOWNSEND

With over 20 years marketing experience across both B2B and B2C, I have led growth and awareness campaigns in regional, national and international markets. My key strengths lie in managing marketing plans to drive strategic priorities; maximising new business opportunities; effective stakeholder engagement; leading teams to deliver compelling campaigns with clear measurable results; and encouraging staff development.I cut my marketing teeth working for complex global organisations - Deloitte & Touche and SITA Airline services; running and then promoted to lead on international campaigns and branding strategy. I then specialised in regional and national education services including Nelson Thornes publishers for seven years. One of my most successful achievements was leading the national campaign for AQA exam board\'s teaching resources across all of their A-Level and GCSE portfolio, growing their market share by over 20%.At Gloucestershire College I was responsible for successful campaigns to grow our apprenticeship numbers across the county, and increased both FE and HE applicant numbers despite Covid restrictions - through engaging virtual open events and videos.I am very active on the Gloucestershire business circuit, and passionate about all the employment and training opportunities the Golden Valley Develolment will bring to our region and beyond. In July 2021, I was immensely proud to launch the £3 million cyber and computing training facility - ADA, at the Gloucestershire College Cheltenham campus.I\'m delighted to have been appointed Director of Marketing at Hazlewoods, a UK top 25 Business Advisers and Chartered Accountants. Based in Cheltenham but with a growing national client base, we have over 400 staff who provide sector based financial expertise across a multitude of industries; from health care, vets and legal, to property, farming and estates, cyber and technology.Find out more at
