ABOUT ALEX S.

With 20 years of experience as a political organiser, grassroots advocate, international development practitioner, and civil society activist, I look to bring and build on a combination of experience, skills, and passion to advisory and senior leadership roles in a social change organisation with a mission to make a serious dent in the most vexing issues facing our world. I have a successful track record in fundraising and representation, programme design and innovation, organisational development and learning. The starting point for me in any organisation or team is the people that define the culture and soul of a collective. I invest time and effort in supporting, building, or reforming strong and capable teams with clear objectives, roadmaps, and performance and accountability parameters. My most recent work has focused on integration of emerging technology and use of data to support innovation and deeper learning in the work of social justice organisations. I’m hands-on in the details of strategy, budgets, workplans, and policy to define and evaluate organisational direction and delivery. And the trust I have in the people of my organisation or team inspires me to look beyond my desk and be a passionate communicator, and an effective convener and negotiator for that which my team has tasked me. I have learned in my years working to never ask for permission when human dignity is at stake.
