ABOUT ALEX GOODSON

I have worked in the IT industry for the past thirty years and spent the last nineteen with IBM Systems designing data storage solutions.During this time I have had a variety of roles and worked with many clients across all the industry verticals. However, my focus has remained the same throughout - I design simple efficient solutions which meet my clients requirements. Over the past twenty five years the world of data storage has changed considerably but my clients\' core requirements have remained the same. Data storage solutions need to deliver a high level of performance, availability and security. If we cannot deliver on this then nothing else matters. I have been Chief Technology Officer for IBM Storage in the UK and Ireland since 2015. This has been a fantastic role since it gives me the opportunity to influence our direction and allows me to focus my efforts where I think they are best utilised.More recently I have become involved in cloud based solutions, looking at how clients can achieve hybrid solutions where their on-premise environments offer comparable levels of service to their chose public clouds. This requires an understanding of the wider eco-system in which my solutions reside and means I need to factor in components to deliver automation and data mobility.I am actively involved with social media and regularly post on LinkedIn and Twitter. I do this in a professional capacity although clearly all views are my own.I am, I like to think, very approachable so feel free to contact me if you\'d like to discuss anything related to data storage or management.
