ABOUT ALEX PERNIN

I am the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Star Royalties, a precious metals and decarbonization royalty and streaming investment company. I was previously responsible for managing capital allocation at Barrick Gold, where I oversaw all major internal, joint-venture and M&A opportunities. I was involved in the US$6B Randgold Resources acquisition, the largest gold sector acquisition in a decade, as well as the US$5B Barrick Gold – Newmont Mining Nevada Joint Venture (Nevada Gold Mines). Prior to Barrick Gold, I was in equity research at Canaccord Genuity where I covered junior and mid-capitalization precious metals producers as well as royalty and streaming companies. Before that, I was at Freeport-McMoRan and Northern Superior Resources in mining operations and greenfields exploration roles, respectively.I have experience in royalty and stream financing, capital allocation, corporate strategy, investment management, capital markets, mining operations and mineral exploration. I am a Registered Professional Geologist in the province of Ontario and hold an Honours B.Sc. in Geology (gold medallist) and an M.Sc. in Economic Geology, both from the University of Toronto. I am fully bilingual in English and French, with limited proficiency in Spanish and Italian.
