ABOUT ALDO PEIXOTO

After receiving my medical degree from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), I trained in Internal Medicine at UCONN and completed my Nephrology fellowship at Yale. I joined the faculty at Yale in 1998. I spent 15 years at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, 7 of them as Associate Chief of Medicine. In 2014 I moved to Yale New-Haven Hospital as Associate Chair for Ambulatory Services of the Department of Medicine and Clinical Chief of Nephrology, and in 2019, I was named the inaugural Vice Chair for Quality & Safety in the Department of Medicine, while continuing my activities as Clinical Chief of Nephrology. During my tenure as faculty at Yale, I was a an active clinician in consultative nephrology and hypertension. My primary interests were in resistant and secondary forms of hypertension, and in the management of cardiovascular dysautonomia. As a researcher, my general focus was on the interplay of hypertension, kidney disease and vascular function. In 2025, I left academia and joined Regeneron Pharmaceuticals as Medical Director in Clinical Drug Development (Cardiovascular/Renal/Metabolism group) to pursue a greater focus on clinical research and drug development to help treat patients with cardio-renal-metabolic problems.I remain on the faculty at Yale as Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine.
