ABOUT ALAN COLLINS

I have 35 years experience in the Energy Industry covering a wide range of Upstream (natural gas, sour gas, heavy oil) and Downstream (refining and chemicals) businesses. I am a proven technical leader with core skills in process engineering and process safety with extensive knowledge of most surface engineering disciplines gained through several multi-discipline leadership roles. I have served on 5 leadership teams, three of which were at the Site Leadership Team level. I also possess commercial skills developed during strategic planning and infrastructure marketing activities in Europe and more recently Louisiana. I am trained in Incident Command and have delegated for site GMs on many occasions. I have represented site leadership in public presentations, community meetings, First Nations negotiations and have been interviewed by media (press and local radio). I further enhanced my experience of External Relations through the Geismar Tiger AO4 communications strategy.I acquired intimate knowledge of major project development, construction, commissioning and start up throughout my career but particularly in the multi-billion dollar Scotford Upgrader Expansion 1 project and most recently the award winning Geismar Tiger AO4 project. I have demonstrated skill in developing partnerships with EPC organizations ensuring that operational readiness & commissioning and start up needs are strongly represented throughout the projects.For most of my career, I was passionately involved in the development of people and have demonstrated success in building technical and operational teams through integrated recruitment and leading them through extremely challenging circumstances to deliver exceptional results to the business.
