I leverage modern AI systems to scale up discovery in the cognitive and behavioral sciences, with the ultimate goal of surfacing unifying principles governing the human mind. Historically, the cognitive sciences have operated under a structural bottleneck: the manual research cycle is too slow and narrow to systematically explore the vast space of possible experiments and models. As a Peretsman Scully Postdoctoral Fellow at the Princeton AI Lab, I am building the systems to break that bottleneck. I develop LLM-driven discovery engines that automate every stage of the scientific cycle: proposing experiments, generating high-fidelity behavioral data in silico, synthesizing computational models via program synthesis, and iteratively steering search toward discoveries with high conceptual yield.

ABOUT AKSHAY K. JAGADISH

Akshay K. Jagadish is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Princeton AI Lab. His work leverages modern AI systems to scale up discovery in the cognitive and behavioral sciences, with the ultimate goal of surfacing unifying principles governing the human mind. Specifically, he develops LLM-driven discovery engines that automate every stage of the scientific cycle: proposing experiments, generating high-fidelity behavioral data in silico, synthesizing computational models via program synthesis, and iteratively steering search toward discoveries with high conceptual yield. Before joining Princeton, he spent six wonderful years in Germany, where he earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science and an M.Sc. in Computational Neuroscience at the University of Tübingen under the mentorship of Eric Schulz, Marcel Binz, and Peter Dayan. His research has been featured in popular press, including The New York Times, Fortune, Tagesspiegel, and Science Daily.
