ABOUT EMILY TURNER
I am an acquisitions and developmental editor with more than two decades of experience crafting critically acclaimed nonfiction books. Books on my list have garnered widespread media coverage and prestigious awards, including GASLIGHT by Jonathan Mingle, winner of the 2025 Reed Environmental Writing Award; THREAT MULTIPLIER by Sherri Goodman, lauded by former Secretary of State John F. Kerry as a \"must read\"; and WHITEWASH by Carey Gillam, winner of the Rachel Carson Book Award. I edit manuscripts on topics ranging from sustainable agriculture to public health, but all deliver an important message through a compelling narrative or voice. I first joined Island Press in 2002 and have also worked at New York University Press and Academy Chicago Publishers. I hold an MA in writing from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in English literature from the University of Virginia.
